I want to thank you for your support in the 2003 Mayors race, and I hope you will continue to support my vision for the future of Austin and our country.  My record reflects an understanding of the issues gained through twenty-five years of experience in Austin as a public servant and activist.  I also have nine years of City Council experience including 15 months as mayor pro tem.  During the past twenty-five years, I have worked on issues as diverse as the citizens of Austin - issues that are increasingly important to the future of our city.  Some of the issues the Austin mayor must be willing and able to effectively handle are:

  • Responsibly managing the City’s budget
  • Revitalizing our local economy by nurturing the growth of small businesses
  • Addressing the area’s increasing cost of living
  • Developing a sensible regional transportation plan

These complicated issues come with equally complex ethical and legal questions ranging from the impact of growth on our environment and our responsibilities to all of Austin’s citizens, to the impact of national and international politics on Austin’s government, its budget and its citizens.

We are at a pivotal point in Austin's history and important decisions need to be made regarding our city's future.  Due to rapid growth and economic challenges, the very essence of that which attracted most of us here could essentially be lost. Our unique city is too special to let that happen.  If you share my vision and ideas for Austin's future, I hope you’ll agree that saving the soul of Austin is worth the effort.

Please volunteer or make a donation today by contacting me at 474.1029 or through our website, MaxforMayor.org.  The time is now, and we need your help!  Thank you for your support.   Or call the webmaster at 512-581-9617.

Sincerely,

 Michael “Max” Nofziger
